Early Life and Education
Rebecca was born and raised in Philadelphia, United States. From an early age, she showed interest in political communication and journalism. Starting at CNN
Rebecca began her career at CNN, one of the largest news networks in the country. She started as an intern for “Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer” in the Washington, D.C. bureau. Working at CNN allowed her to learn how newsrooms function and to understand the demands of live news reporting. By 2006, she moved into a role as a producer, where she helped put together daily interviews, political panels, and breaking news segments.
Career at CNN
While working at CNN, Rebecca took on more responsibilities. She moved into the position of executive producer, where she was part of the team that launched important programs like “Inside Politics with John King” and “The Messy Truth with Van Jones.”

Transition to MSNBC
In September 2022, Rebecca Kutler moved to MSNBC as the Senior Vice President of Content Strategy. At MSNBC, she worked on planning and managing digital products, live events, podcasts, films, and other news content. Her role was to find new ways to reach viewers and to update how news was delivered.
When the previous President of MSNBC, Rashida Jones, left in January 2025, Rebecca took on the role of interim president. A few weeks later, on February 12, 2025, she was officially named the President of MSNBC.
